Lalbagh Botanical Garden

You will be glad to know that the famous Lalbagh Botanical Garden is at arm’s length from our hotel The Royal Comfort. You know what Lalbagh Garden, as people fondly call it, has a history too. Let’s explore.

Lalbagh Garden – the history:

Lalbagh Garden is often referred to as The Red Garden by the English speaking community. The garden was first conceptualised by the Mysore ruler Hyder Ali and it was commissioned by him way back in 1760. Unfortunately, he couldn’t complete the garden before his death and it was his son, Tipu Sultan who gave it a finishing look. But, back then the garden wasn’t the one what you see today. Lalbagh Garden consists of 240 acres of land today and it is situated on the southern fringe of the city Bangalore.

The garden is enamoured with the horticultural resources, botanical plants and a huge lake inside. According to the history, Tipu Sultan imported plants and trees from around the world and added them to the Lalbagh Garden. You can have a panoramic view of the Kempegowda Tower (another historical site) from the garden.

Every evening brings the magical touch to the garden and the lake thereby makes the Lalbagh Garden ravishingly beautiful. You will be simply mesmerised and awestruck having seen the bounteous nature there in touch with the mystical feel.
